14. What ministry opportunities are included in the Wycliffe L2L Program?

There are six main ministry opportunities:

A – ESL: People who have recently come to Australia (and some who have been here several years) often need training in English. The TESOL course will train L2L students in how to teach English to newcomers. The practical assignments include preparing lesson plans and teaching ESL lessons. This is a cross-cultural ministry opportunity.

B – Cross-Culture: L2L students will also interact with their ESL students and learn something of their culture. This activity is also a ministry opportunity. Some ESL students may also wish to learn from the Bible.

C – Cross-Cultural Reading: Some Aboriginal Christians struggle to read. L2L students will provide a ‘helping hand’ one-on-one, face-to-face, in remote communities.

D – STB: The L2L students will take Story the Bible training, and then teach others how to craft and tell simple, accurate and memorable Bible stories. They will also help their students learn how to teach Bible stories and how to lead Bible studies based on these stories.

E – Drama: L2L students will learn, rehearse and perform The Jonah Drama, then teach it to others.God’s Word speaks volumes through drama.

F – Evangelism: Throughout the L2L year students will be learning and telling Bible stories. In Israel they will tell Bible stories at every historical site they visit. Being able to tell Bible stories on every occasion will enable them to share Bible stories with people who are not yet believers.
