21. Why is the TESOL training included in the L2L? How does it fit with Bible translation? How will it benefit me?

There are many benefits from the excellent TESOL training provided by the ITA (Intercultural Training Australia.)

A – Teaching skills: Many Christians go through their whole lives without developing teaching skills, despite the emphasis Jesus placed on the importance of his followers becoming excellent Gospel communicators. In fact, too many Christians excuse themselves from this mandate. The TESOL course is strong in helping students to develop teaching skills.

B – Cross-cultural ministry: Teaching English to migrants not only meets a need that they have, but also provides an opportunity to share God’s love.

C – Accreditation: The 11025NAT Certificate IV in Teaching English as an Additional Language (TESOL) – in collaboration with the Australian College of Community Development (RTO: 31980) is an internationally recognised qualification for ESL. In other words, L2L graduates have a marketable qualification.

The 11237NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry & Theology in partnership with the Vocational Bible College Limited, RTO: 41496 is recognised by Bible Colleges in Australia affiliated with the Australian University of Theology ( Australian University of Theology );

D – Door-opening: All over the world, there is a need for ESL teachers. This skill (and Australian Government accreditation) can often open doors to countries or regions or ethnic groups where Christianity is not normally welcomed. For this reason, Wycliffe (and many other mission organisations) strongly support the TESOL training and the ESL ministry.
