Hilda was born and raised in the Solomon Islands. Andrew was born and raised on a cattle property in North Queensland. Both Andrew and Hilda
received Christ as their personal Saviour at the age of ten, by hearing the Gospel through children’s ministry.
Andrew and Hilda were both involved in youth group, church leadership and Bible college training before they met. Hilda worked as a local translator in the Pijin Old Testament translation project in the Solomon Islands. Andrew worked as a church planter with Queensland Baptist churches. They met when Andrew visited the Solomon Islands, were married in 1999, and lived in Australia.
Andrew and Hilda completed linguistic studies in Melbourne in 2005. They have served with the Solomon Islands Translation Advisory Group (SITAG) as Scripture Use Specialists for eight years, between 2009 and 2018. They are coordinating Scripture Use in Pijin and five tribal languages: training Bible reading class leaders, translating and recording Jesus films, making audio recordings of New Testaments, distributing audio players and training listening group leaders.
Andrew and Hilda give glory to God for this opportunity to serve Him and to serve the people of the Solomon Islands.
