TRAINING

There are over 800 languages spoken in Papua New Guinea but only 13 have complete Bibles (265 New Testaments). Much work remains before every Papua New Guinean has access to Scripture in the language and form that communicates best to them. Calvin and Ruth have the privilege of working alongside Papua New Guineans in roles that support the ongoing ministry of Bible translation.

PNG is full of challenging terrain that is best negotiated by air. Calvin is an aircraft maintenance engineer; he works on a fleet of four Kodiak aeroplanes and two LongRanger helicopters that are specifically dedicated to providing transport and logistics support for Bible translation.

Ruth provides training for Papua New Guinean Bible translators and support staff. Her current focus is helping them to use English in their work. As the supply of expatriate workers dwindles, there is now more need than ever for Papua New Guineans to receive the training they need to take the lead in Bible translation work.
