Greg & Rachel Shipp
CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA
Greg and Rachel want to use their gifts in God's service to help people of all cultures experience the power of God’s Word and his love, in a language that speaks straight to their hearts. Before hearing about Wycliffe, Rachel had developed a keen interest in social research and is now applying these skills to language assessment work, in support of Bible translation projects. Greg’s understanding of God’s missional heart was deepened by a Wycliffe trip to the Philippines and a short introduction course to language learning and culture. He is also using his existing skills in finance and administration. They joined Wycliffe in 2017.
Greg and Rachel have felt drawn to Latin American cultures. Having previously travelled and served short term in this part of the world they are excited to have been accepted to serve long term with SIL in Mexico along with their two daughters, Elodie and Marieke.
Due to COVID-19, Greg and Rachel have not yet been able to take up their assignment in Mexico as planned. They began serving short term in the Northern Territory in 2020, supporting Indigenous language translation by Aboriginal Australians.
