PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

We are looking for people to manage the Darwin office of our partner organisation, the Australian Society for Indigenous Languages (AuSIL), including the running of a small bookshop.

Prefer long term, but open to 1 year or more commitment.
We don’t pay a wage or salary, but instead expect you to fund yourself for the time you work with us. We do not sponsor visas for overseas workers with one exception – we are willing to consider someone who is a member of an overseas Wycliffe organisation planning to come long term, and raising their own support (including covering visa expenses).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with telephone, email & in-person enquiries
  • Tell visitors about the work of AuSIL
  • Manage physical and digital archives
  • Bookshop sales, order and arrange stock
  • Manage social media, newsletters and websites
  • Apply for project funding and submit reports
  • Manage volunteers & bookshop staff
  • Organise workshop logistics (in Darwin & in community)
  • Basic IT support by setting up new laptops for translators and troubleshooting issues
  • Support team members with their administration and HR needs
  • Organise team meetings and conferences
  • Buy office/kitchen supplies
  • Collect mail
  • Liaise with Wycliffe and SIL re HR needs

Qualifications:

  • intermediate computer skills
  • strong administrative skills
  • relates well to and enjoys helping others

Language and Culture Training:

  • four weeks’ language and culture training called Launch
  • orientation workshops, held at our National Centre in Kangaroo Ground, Victoria
  • on-field cultural orientation
