At the finishing line
When the translation of a New Testament nears completion, the team switches gear to prepare the translation for publication, either as a book or in digital form. For a New Testament in book form, a typesetter joins the team to properly format the book for printing.
The translation team will then spend many hours reading through the text again as it is typeset, to ensure nothing has been missed or misrepresented.
For many years, Wycliffe Australia members Dave and Elly Sharp have been working with a team of national translators to translate the New Testament into the Gergiko language of Chad, and they are now approaching the typesetting stage.
This stage will require them and two co-translators to travel to Yaoundé in Cameroon for around five weeks.
The cost for this is more than the current team can finance, so Wycliffe Australia has created a project to assist the team with the airfares, lodging and meal costs.
