Bill and Sandra Callister
PACIFIC
Bill and Sandra Callister first went to PNG in 1976, and began work with the Misima language community (about 25,000 people in Milne Bay Province) in 1978. After a New Testament dedication in 1998, they have continued training and equipping the Misima translation team as they work through selected parts of the Old Testament. In 2012 Bill began awareness visits amongst the Saisai/Rifao-speaking community, located on very small islands to the south-east of Misima Island. Using a computer program, the Saisai team began adapting from the Misima NT into their own language. In November 2016 the books of Matthew and Ephesians were dedicated, along with audio recordings. They relocated to Australia in November 2018, but continue advising and assisting the Misima and Saisai translation teams remotely via the Internet. In addition, Sandra serves as a Retiree Care Coordinator for Wycliffe NSW/ACT, and Wycliffe representative for the Northern Rivers area of NSW, where they are currently living.
