SCHOOL TEACHING

Craig and Sharon Vanderduys first met at Cornerstone Bible College in the late 80’s. Craig has a science degree and is a high school teacher and Sharon has a business degree in Human Resource Management. After being married in 1995 they moved to Theodore in Central Queensland where Craig was a high school teacher for about three years.

Both Craig and Sharon had a heart for missions from the time they came to Christ. While teaching in Theodore an old missionary friend challenged them about the need for teachers who could support Bible translation in Papua New Guinea. This started them on the track to join Wycliffe Australia.

In 2000 they moved to Ukarumpa, the administrative centre in the Eastern Highlands of PNG - where they have been working ever since. Craig teaches science at the International School, allowing translators, support workers and missionaries of various missions to concentrate on their work, rather than home schooling or sending their children to boarding school. He also leads a prison ministry at the local prison. Sharon works in the personnel department of the director’s office where she is involved with job placement and visa requirements for missionaries coming to PNG.
