Helene Savage

AUSTRALIA

Hélène and late husband Andrew completed their linguistic studies in 1994 and became members of Wycliffe Australia that same year. Together they worked for 22 years with minority language communities, helping them champion their language, managing Scripture translation teams and training nationals in script and language development. The couple were also active recruiters for the unfinished task of Bible translation worldwide. Tragically, Andrew passed away unexpectedly in October 2016. Hélène is based in SE Queensland. Three of her four adult children currently live in Australia, and one daughter and family in the UK. She has five grandchildren.

Hélène is an enthusiastic team player, implementer, networker and encourager. She works remotely with the Wycliffe HR team (applications of new candidates) and plays an active part in the Queensland regional team: processing Qld volunteers' applications (interviews and correspondence) , liaising with members and retirees, as well as coordinating prayer updates.

Latest Updates from Helene Savage

24 August 2018

In January 2018, Helene began a new role with Wycliffe Australia. Due to her teenage sons’ needs as they finish high school and start their tertiary education in Brisbane, she will not be returning to her previous cross-cultural ministry. She is now a member of the Wycliffe Queensland office team, following up on people’s interest in joining Wycliffe, managing the monthly Qld members’ prayer circular, keeping the retirees in the loop and helping with representing Wycliffe whenever needed.
Her other job is working alongside the Applications coordinator, helping new candidates (particularly those from Qld) work through the membership application stages and keeping their files updated.
Helene lives in Stanthorpe and checks up on her elderly mother-in-law regularly. She works from home and travels to Brisbane and regional SE Qld whenever needed.
