SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT

Jared has studied to be involved with Bible translation and Bethany has prepared for literacy and scripture engagement work. They met at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC) and were married in 2018. Nathanael was born in February 2020. Matthias was born in May 2023

Jared grew up in Bathurst, in New South Wales. During his time as an AFES Ministry Apprentice at Charles Sturt University, he recognised what a privilege it is to have the Bible so accessible in our own language. This fostered his interest in the work of Bible translation with Wycliffe.

Bethany grew up in Papua New Guinea, a daughter of Bible translators. She saw first-hand how lives were transformed as the people received and read the Scriptures in their heart language for the first time. Bethany trained and taught as a primary teacher and is passionate about helping people read and engage with the Bible in their own language.

Jared and Bethany are now in Vanuatu and are language learning in preparation to serve a people group in Vanuatu. Vanuatu still has dozens of languages without any part of the Bible translated. Many people from these language groups desire to have the Bible in their own language and have been waiting for help for a long time.
