The Christmas story across Australia
Did you know that there are approximately 250 Indigenous languages (and an estimated 800 dialects) still being spoken today across Australia? Projects are taking place to help Indigenous communities translate God’s Word into the languages they understand best. One of these initiatives is The Christmas Project, headed up by the Australian Society for Indigenous Languages (AuSIL). The Christmas message from Luke 2:6-12 is being translated into as many Australian Indigenous languages as possible. Discover more by clicking on the map below:
Thank you to the Australian Society for Indigenous Languages (AuSIL), Bible Society and aboriginalbibles.org.au for providing information and data about the translations.
