BIBLE TRANSLATION

Julie has been in PNG since 2008 and started working with the Teop people in Bougainville in 2010. Julie has been adopted into the village, with local translator, Joyce, being like a mum to her and the children in the village all call her ‘Iaa Ju,’ which means, ‘Auntie Ju.’

Joyce has completed the first draft of the New Testament, and now Julie and Joyce are working hard on the first stage of checking, the advisor check, and have only nine books to go. After the advisor check, there is the village check followed by the consultant check. Some books have already progressed through these checks too.

In October 2016, Julie was in the village when there was an incident resulting in the need for everyone to evacuate the village with a high chance that they wouldn’t have homes to return to. Praise God that the situation resolved well and they did return to their homes. Living through this together has helped to deepen Julie’s relationships with the people.

Situations like these highlight the need for God’s Word to transform lives, and also the importance of your prayers. Please continue to pray for Julie, Joyce and the Teop translation.
