Saul and Rebecca work with a number of partners to create resources and equip Deaf communities to produce their own Bible translations in their own sign languages. There are 280 documented sign languages with only one having a complete Bible translation. Because the large majority of the Deaf lack the literacy skills to read the Bible, sign language translation work is important in order to reach them with the gospel. Saul is developing a 3D motion capture system to create realistic animations of sign language for Bible translation. The goal has been to create a system that costs under $5000 and only requires basic computer skills to use. The software is now starting to be used by different teams around the world. Saul is continuing to improve how well it tracks sign languages in order to reduce the amount of editing required and working to improve its usability. Rebecca is working with others to create Christian resources in Auslan for the Australian Deaf community.
