Ministry Support Administrator
LONG TERM | AUSTRALIA
What if your administrative skills could help put Scripture into the hands of Indigenous Australians? Would you consider moving to Darwin to work with our partner organisation, the Australian Society for Indigenous Languages (AuSIL)?
AuSIL’s translation and Scripture engagement workers are currently carrying a significant administrative load, taking time away from their primary work. We are urgently looking for an organised, capable and Christ-focused person to join the Darwin team and take on this essential support role.
Your administration will free our current team members to focus on translation work and sharing God’s Word in Indigenous languages. You would not need to have linguistic or Indigenous language backgrounds, simply strong organisational skills, initiative, good computer skills and a desire to help others.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate team meetings, conferences and workshops
- Support team members with administration and HR
- Liaise with Wycliffe and SIL regarding personnel needs
- Coordinate workshop logistics and staff trips to remote communities
- Assist with websites, newsletters and social media
- Assist with funding applications and reports
- Manage volunteers and bookshop staff
- Respond to enquiries and provide office support
- Maintain physical and digital records
Qualifications
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Good computer skills
- Communication and social media skills
- A heart to see AuSIL grow, and willingness to support recruitment
- Initiative, independence and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to relate well to people and a love for helping others
- An openness to working cross-culturally
Experience in administration, project coordination, HR, communications or office management is helpful, but not essential. Likewise, Bible College training is preferred but we will consider expressions of interest without it..
Language and Culture Training
To be seconded by Wycliffe to AuSIL, you will prepare by completing:
- Four weeks of language and culture training (Summer Intensive) through SILA in Victoria
- Wycliffe orientation during application process
- On-field cultural orientation through T-TRIM course
- On the job introduction to Bible translation and AuSIL’s ministry in Darwin
Commitment
We are ideally seeking someone for the long term, but are open to a commitment of two years or more.
This is a volunteer-supported role. AuSIL does not provide a salary or wage, and applicants are expected to become members of Wycliffe and raise their own financial support.
We do not generally sponsor visas for overseas workers, but may consider long-term applicants who are members of an overseas Wycliffe organisation and raising their own support.
We pray that God would raise up the right person to come alongside our AuSIL team, helping to remove barriers and enable Bible translation to grow across the Northern Territory.
Thanks for your patience...
