Multilingual Education
Assist in developing and implementing programs which transition students from their mother tongue to the language/s used in education systems throughout their country.
Most language contexts around the world are multilingual rather than monolingual, with education available primarily in the national language, especially for higher education. Where children are introduced to literacy in their mother tongue first, and then learn the national language and apply what they know to that language, they have better chances for success in education. Multilingual education programs are generally developed to be part of the formal education system, with the support and involvement of the education department of the country. Programs involve the development of curriculum and resources, as well as designing and even implementing training of local teachers in the use of these materials.
